Isla Magpie was hit by a car after fledging from her nest over the summer. My friend John and I doctored her, but at first I have very little confidence she'd survive, none the less fly again. She stayed in an enclosure behind John's house until the bandages came off. At that point, confident that she would never fly again, John found a family who was willing to host both her and the similarly-injured Crow Egbert on their property long-term. We recently heard from this family that Isla had begun flying back and forth in their enclosure. Visiting this morning, we found this to be very true, and deemed Isla surprisingly healed enough for a return to being a wild magpie. This video documents her release
